I’m Ruby (or Rubes!) the gal behind Brown Butter Bakes - a dietitian by day, home baker by night (and early morning and weekend!), and bikini athlete around all of that! It’s a fairly jam-packed life, but I bloomin’ love it.

I started Brown Butter Bakes after friends and family finally convinced me that my bakes were good enough to sell. It turns out they were right, God bless ’em. I love the creativity that comes with baking; dreaming up unexpected flavour combinations, experimenting with new ideas and turning them into something people can enjoy. Getting gorgeous messages from customers telling me how much they loved what I made makes all the hard work completely worthwhile. I also absolutely adore having something that is entirely mine.

I have an utter OBSESSION with food science, and you’ll often find me trying to better my understanding, and using what I learn to improve, elevate and upgrade my bakes. I believe in experimenting in the kitchen, not gatekeeping what I learn, and leading with kindness and empathy.

If you follow me on TikTok - thank you! - you might know that I share pretty much everything I discover, learn or become curious about along the way. My hope is that it makes starting and running a home bakery, (or simply baking as a hobby!) feel a little less confusing for anyone else thinking about doing the same.
